Beaches

The beaches in Hermanus are a sun worshipper’s dream with their soft powdery white sands. There are a number of choices, from cosy rock-protected coves to long expanses of beach perfect for walking and finding your own, private spot to relax.

Grotto beach is the longest and largest in Hermanus and stretches east to the mouth of the Klein River Lagoon and beyond to ‘Die Plaat’, a broad, flat stretch of beach reaching all the way to Gansbaai. There are excellent facilities including picnic/barbecue areas, a restaurant, cloakrooms and a beachwear shop.
